We are seeking a PDP Technical Coach to lead and deliver high quality technical development program for PDP and upper YDP (15-16) players, providing individualised, position specific coaching that supports progression towards senior football and aligns with the clubs playing identity and player pathway.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Development
• Plan, lead and deliver high-quality technical development sessions for PDP players.
• Ensure sessions reflect the technical, tactical and positional demands of the PDP and upper YDP. • Create a challenging, supportive and high-performance learning environment.
• Adapt coaching content to meet individual player needs and development priorities.
• Monitor, evaluate and reflect on session outcomes to maximise player learning, development and transfer into match performance.
• Ensure technical practices are realistic, relevant and aligned to the club’s playing identity.
• To lead and support on match days across the PDP
Individual Development
• Design, implement and regularly review Individual Development Plans (IDPs) aligned to the Stockport County player pathway.
• Deliver targeted coaching interventions linked to individual player objectives.
• Monitor and evaluate player progress, providing feedback and adapting development plans where required.
• Maintain accurate records of player development, progress and outcomes.
• Provide individualised, position-specific coaching to support progression towards senior football.
Pathway & Multidisciplinary Collaboration
• Work closely with the PDP Head Coach and wider technical staff to align technical development with tactical and positional demands.
• Share player insights and development feedback to support alignment across the academy pathway.
• Collaborate with physical performance, psychology and other multidisciplinary staff to support holistic player development.
• Coordinate technical and physical training demands to ensure appropriate integration of session content and training loads.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and decision-making around player progression and performance optimisation.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the academy’s technical curriculum, methodology and coaching environment.
Skills Required
• Technical Coaching Expertise – Strong understanding and application of technical and tactical coaching principles within the PDP and upper YDP.
• Session Design & Delivery – Ability to plan and deliver engaging, challenging and purposeful sessions that transfer into match performance.
• Individual Player Development – Ability to identify individual needs, create effective development plans and provide targeted coaching interventions.
• Observation & Analysis – Strong ability to observe, assess and analyse player performance, identifying clear and actionable development opportunities.
• Communication – Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and build effective relationships with players and staff.
• Adaptability – Ability to adapt coaching approaches, session content and interventions to meet the needs of different players and situations.
• Collaboration – Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment and contribute positively to wider player development discussions.
• Planning & Organisation – Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage training programmes, IDPs, reviews and development processes effectively.
• Reflective Practice – Commitment to evaluating coaching practice, learning from experience and continually improving.

Essential
● Professional qualification at UEFA A-Licence level and Advance Youth Award
● Fully licensed FA Coach committed to annual CPD to maintain licence.
● Strong knowledge of football at relevant levels in terms of individual player development
● An understanding of a range of teaching / learning styles to optimise the development of young players.
● An understanding of optimal playing environments to develop young players in academy football. ● An understanding of the holistic approach to developing well rounded players and young adults.
Experience required
● Coaching and/or Management of Players and Staff within professional football environments. Preferably with players in the PDP.
● Experience in delivering the method of team training scenarios (Setting tactical problems with one team for the opposite team to solve).
● Experience in technical development of players within the PDP, YDP and senior football to meet the demands of the game.
