About Stockport County
Founded in 1883, Stockport County are one of the country’s longest established football clubs. Initially formed as Heaton Norris Rovers, the Club officially became Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport and have been based at Edgeley Park since 1902.
The team currently competes in Sky Bet League One, the third tier of the English Football League, after winning the 2023–24 Sky Bet League Two title.
Role Overview
We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The role of Sous Chef to be fully competent in each area detailed below, in the absence of the Head Chef, whilst financially managing / health and safety and controlling the business.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure consistency, timings, presentation and quality are always delivered.
- To ensure that the kitchen opens, operates and closes to the required standards
- Ensuring stock rotation and par level management and to maintain a fresh approach to product offering.
- Receiving of goods
- Effective pass management, prep controls line checks and tastings
- To act as a role model to all new employees, by showing a positive approach to team spirit through support and positive communication
- To take full responsibility of the catering unit in the absence of the Head Chef.
- To comply to Health & Safety including legally required training/risk assessment adherence and equipment maintenance (internal and external)
- To adhere to all company rules. Regulations and procedures
- To communicate potential problems to the Head Chef and to take a pro‐active approach to their resolution
- Play an active part in Kitchen cleanliness, Food Safety and Food Hygiene.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Have experience working within a complex business environment.
- Have excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Excel.
Desirable
- Passion for football and a strong understanding of the club's fan base
- Experience of working in a football/sporting setting
